William Rettie is a Ph.D. candidate at Carleton University. His research focuses on searching for long-lived particles using the ATLAS detector, specifically possible dark matter candidates. Once he began his undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa, William was fortunate enough to secure a position as a part-time research assistant in a bio-physics lab with a professor from one of his classes. He then discovered his love for particle physics, and sought out various internships as part of his university’s co-op program in order to further his career in physics. In September of 2022, he began his graduate studies at Carleton University.
